From January 9, 2023 post.

“I think the best advice I ever got was from my father, who said that I should get a teaching degree in college because I would ‘always have it to fall back on.’ Once I took pottery as an elective, I knew that was what I wanted to do the rest of my life. However, I took his advice and went on to get my master’s degree, and while I was at it, I got a degree in education… In 2017, the day after my 75th birthday, I started a teaching career at UNM-Valencia, and it has proved to be one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done. Thanks, Dad.”
