Swing for the Fences! Home Run Derby, Swap Meet on Deck

0Comments

Los Lunas Parks and Recreation has added two, first-time events to its September schedule.
The “Thursday Night Lights Home Run Derby” contest on Sept. 8 will give competitors a chance to break out their inner-slugger. The home run derby will celebrate the completion of new lighting at the Los Lunas Sports Complex.
There are various age divisions in both softball and baseball, however very few spots are left for this free event. Winners in each division will receive a new bat.
The home run derby will be followed by the inaugural Sports Equipment Swap Meet, which will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Daniel Fernandez Recreation Center.
It is a chance to clear out the garage of any unused sports gear. Recreation supervisor Marcos Castillo says sports equipment isn’t cheap, and this is an opportunity to either sell, trade or donate items.
