Amazing and wonderful news! Since 2007 with every position she has had, Patty Mugan has always been Transfer Coordinator for Valencia County, as a Kennel Tech, Admin Assistant and most recently Shelter Supervisor/Transfer Coordinator always working hard to get animals “out the front door”. Typically, she would spend time coordinating rescues and transfers after hours working her shifts in whichever combined position. Recognizing the need for a more dedicated effort in saving the lives of animals, Patty reached out to Jess Weston, Shelter Director. Jess agreed and immediately began a reconfiguration to improve rescue efforts. Pattys title has consequently been changed to Transfer Coordinator. In other words, her efforts are now focused solely on helping the animals that are not adopted. This is a win/win for everyone.
As a result of that change and also under the direction of Jess Weston, Shelter Director, Derrick Saiz has been appointed in a new role as Animal Control Officer/Shelter Supervisor. Derrick has many dedicated years with the County as Lead Officer in the field and in the administration building.
We have said on this page many times before, Valencia County is very fortunate to have an incredibly caring, talented and dedicated team working to help improve the lives of its residents and animals.
