Art Contest
The Belen Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Commission is sponsoring its annual art contest, which is open to all Belen students in all grades.
Create one of the following:
Create an image of Dr. King
Create a work of art about what “I have a Dream” means to you
Create a work of art that represents cultural diversity
How does Dr. King’s dream tie into your personal experiences and/or goals?
The entry deadline is Monday, Dec. 19.
Entry requirements include:
Employ any art medium
Must use standard poster board
Do not write your name or identifying information on the entry
Complete the entry form, which can be picked up at the Belen Public Library, and submit it with your entry
Winners must attend the candlelight vigil on Monday, Jan. 16
Verbal Arts Contest
The Belen Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Commission is sponsoring its annual verbal art contest, which is open to all Belen middle and high school students.
Write, sing, rap or rhyme about:
How Dr. King’s dream ties into what is happing in society today
How your school benefits from understanding and appreciating cultural diversity
How Dr. King’s dream ties into your personal experiences and goals.
Entry requirements include:
All written submissions must be typed, 12-point font or greater, maximum 500 words
Submissions will be judged on clarity, creativity, originality, depth of thought or significant detail
Complete the entry form, which can be picked up at the Belen Public Library, and submit it with your entry
Winners must attend the candlelight vigil on Monday, Jan. 16.
The 29th annual candlelight vigil and celebration and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 16, at the Belen Public Library, 333 Becker Ave. in Belen.
