City of Belen issued the following announcement on Aug. 22.
Project consists of the reconstruction of the storm water retention pond west of I-25 and Eagle Park. It was breached by storm water in July 2018.
City and its engineer met with NM Department of Homeland Security Emergency Management to discuss the next steps for this project. A new agreement will be signed adjusting the funding amount to $328,000 with a state contribution of $246,000 and a city contribution of $82,000. The agreement date would be revised from April 2020 to April 2021.
Plans will include an additive alternate for construction of an outlet structure with an outlet pipe to allow for discharge from the facility prior to spillway flow. The additive alternate is estimated to cost $38,200 and would require city funds.
Project is scheduled to advertise for bid the fall 2020 pending comments from NMDHSEM.
Construction would begin after the monsoon season 2020.
