City of Belen issued the following announcement on Apr. 30.
REMINDER: The City of Belen has implemented the following regarding city utility accounts:
• We will allow an #extension on all utility bill due dates until further notice. Your due date for any bill from March going forward will be sometime after the end of the New Mexico stay-at-home order. You can disregard due dates printed on your bills that differ from this.
• There will be NO new late #fees applied to any bills that were late in March or any month after that.
• We will NOT shut off any city utility account, which includes #water service, due to nonpayment until further notice.
To help us, if you can #afford to pay your bills on time, please do. This revenue is important to ensuring continuity of our city's operations.
