TORRANCE COUNTY: 3 Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed in Torrance County

Torrance County issued the following announcement on Mar. 30.

Today the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) confirmed three individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in Torrance County. “With our close proximity to Albuquerque, it was only a matter of time before some of our residents were exposed to the virus,” said Commission Chair Ryan Schwebach. “We have been planning for this sad day since the first cases of Coronavirus were discovered in New Mexico and we have a strong partnership with the Department of Health and State Emergency Management”, Schwebach continued.

The County is working proactively with DOH to establish a testing site this Thursday. Residents who are concerned that they may have the virus will be asked to call a DOH screening hotline for Torrance County. Callers will be asked a series of questions after which they may be asked to take a COVID-19 test and given an appointment. Tests will be by appointment only.

Details regarding the DOH Hotline for Torrance County will be provided as they become available.

“Keep your distance, wash your hands frequently, and stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary – especially if you’re sick. With care and common sense we will get through this,” concluded Commissioner Schwebach
