UPDATE: 6:50The patrol sergeant just advised that the bridge is being opened back up now. 

6:20 p.m., Nov. 15

Vehicle and pedestrian crash on River Bridge in Los Lunas with traffic reported at a standstill. The bridge is closed in both directions.

According to Los Lunas Police Chief Frank Lucero, it is unclear how long the bridge will be shut down while a crash investigation takes place. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible. 

He added first-responders on scene did request a medical helicopter transport for someone involved in the crash, however their condition is unknown at this time. 

Only alternatives over the river would be to cross through Belen or in Isleta.
