Noah Madrid, a junior right-handed pitcher and former Los Lunas High School standout, and the Berea Mountaineers were defeated 9-3 by the Centre Colonels in their NCAA Division III baseball meeting, which began at noon Saturday, March 14.

The matchup took place at Gary Wright Field at Fishman Park and marked the teams’ initial contest this season.

Madrid allowed 3 earned runs over five innings, walking one and striking out two batters.

The Mountaineers are slated to play the Colonels again Saturday, March 14, at 3 p.m., once more at Gary Wright Field at Fishman Park.
