From January 14, 2023 post.

**UPDATE-

No evacuation has been ordered, it is voluntary at this time.

We have multiple agencies working to locate the source of the problem.  More updates to come.

**ALERT**

VCFD, Rio Communities and Belen Fire have units in the south area of the County investigating a strong odor.

We are in contact with New Mexico Gas and BNSF to see if they are aware of any issues.

The Valencia County Regional Communications Center is getting overwhelmed with calls on the odor, so we are asking the public to refrain from calling 911 to report it.

There are no reports of illness from the community at this time.

We will keep you updated as we have more information.
