There is an active bosque fire near Jarales Road and St. Thomas Lane west of the Rio Grande; the fire has jumped to the east side of the river.
Jarales Road is closed near that intersection and at its southern end at N.M. 346. Valencia County Fire Chief Matt Propp said the blaze is 30 to 50 acres at this time, and one structure is at risk. Valencia County fire personnel are on scene, as well as state and federal fire resources still in the area for the Big Hole Fire.
